Prairie Medical Acupuncture Clinic was founded in April, 2007 by Dr. Priscilla Kerr, a Brazilian family physician with 5 years postgraduate specialization in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Dr. Priscilla Kerr and her husband moved from Brazil to Winnipeg to build a new life. Both are Canadians Citizens since April 2011.
Dr. Kerr’s 5-year postgraduate training program was evaluated by The Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada and Dr. Priscilla Kerr passed all the required exams and achieved Canadian licensure as a specialist in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
Dr. Kerr is not a licensed physician in Canada. (Dr. Kerr decided to do not re-validate her MD diploma in Canada once her passion is acupuncture and her main residence program was Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is Brazil is part of the Medical System and is regulated as a Medical specialty)
DR.PRISCILLA KERR HATAE immigrated to WINNIPEG with her husband in 2007 after living in Brazil for 33 years where she did her Medical training, became a Family Doctor and than decided to enter the Acupuncture residence program for Doctors where she did her initial 2 years training. Dr Kerr felt in love for TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE and than she decided to do 3 more years on her residence focusing in Pain Management and rehabilitation inside the Orthopedics department of the University of Sao Paulo, Medicine School Hospital that is one of the best Hospitals in South America and they have been a reference all around the world. She has a title as a Pain specialist and as a Fertility specialist where she worked with several Fertility Clinic in Sao Paulo and in Canada she has been helping hundreds of couples to reverse their infertility issues and become pregnant. Since she immigrated she accomplished 2007- 2017 she did 12.000 treatments so far.
Dr.P.Kerr is a collaborator with the Acupuncture’s Regulation process together with CMAAC since 2009. She thinks is important for the patients to have a guarantee that all acupuncturists and TCM, Dr would have proper training, good skills, Knowledge of proper hygienic conducts, using disposable and sterile needles. So Far, Manitoba don’t have any Regulation for acupuncture and anyone with a few hours of training can perform acupuncture. And since March 5 /2017 she was appointed to be one of Members of Boards of Directors by the president of the CMAAC. The Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Manitoba is being supported by CMAAC who is member society of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) which is the only international acupuncture organization recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
DR Kerr has training in Psychosomatic Medicine and she combines these techniques with the acupuncture treatment that really helps her patients to see the bigger picture in their conditions. She has received several referrals from the Psychiatry department in Winnipeg and has achieved good results so far.
It is also important to mentioned that due to her Medical and acupuncture training she is one of the few acupuncturists in town who receives MD referrals of daily basis. She has patients referred by Doctors in Manitoba, Ontario and as far as Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Over 30% of her referrals come from physicians.
Prairie Medical Acupuncture Clinic is authorized by many insurance companies to cover her services including Great West Life and Blue Cross. But you must keep your receipts to send them for reimburse.
MPI and WCB authorized Dr. Kerr’s Treatments but the application must be referred by your Physician to them first to get the final approval.
After 11 December 2017 The Prairie Medical Acupuncture Clinic will be located within the New Building of Manitoba Clinic at the 7.o floor and employs the latest techniques and treatments in Chinese Medicine for treating pain, infertility , chronic diseases, weight control, depression and many other diagnoses.
The Manitoba Clinic is a private, mulch-specialty medical clinic, founded in 1946.
