In the past, addressing male infertility was not an easy matter. No Doctor wanted to have this talk with their patient. Believe me. I have been talking to couples since 2000.

Even to make the male partner understand that infertility issues can have two sides of the coin was a big deal . I have been practising medicine for the past 21 years of my life and it’s very common that I had to end our conversation asking more than once that the male partner perform a sperm analysis because it was not even considered that the problem was supposed to come from his side. It was all women ‘s fault.

Sometimes divorce happened before I had a chance to treat them because infertility is a very delicate and stressful matter in every relationship. But let me tell you something, we are living in 2021, a very different time and we can’t keep treating this matter the same way we treated 30 years ago. There is no shame in talking about male infertility and I think the men these days are more open to getting treated and to be honest I noticed a severe increase of male infertility . I believe we do have more issues these days than our grandparents days but I also believe it is due to the fact couples are more open and ok to discuss this matter, and both are accepting to get treated, once infertility is a COUPLE matter not just one side. There is no shame in talking about Male Infertility.

Nearly 1 in 7 couples is infertile, which means they haven’t been able to conceive a child even though they’ve had frequent, unprotected sexual intercourse for a year or longer. In over a third of infertility cases, the problem is with the man. Male infertility can be caused by low sperm production, abnormal sperm function or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm. Maybe you don’t know that but Acupuncture may complement traditional infertility treatments and help men reach their full reproductive potential.

How is male infertility diagnosed?

Your health-care provider will review your health history and do a physical exam. Other tests for male infertility may include:

Sperm count (semen analysis). At least 2 semen samples are taken on separate days. Your provider will check the semen and sperm for many things. These include how much semen you make, how uniform it is, and how acidic it is. He or she will also look at how many sperm you make, how well they move, and what shape they are.

Blood tests. Your provider may use blood tests to check hormone levels and rule out other problems.

Other tests : Your provider does these tests to find the cause of sperm defects or health problems of the male reproductive system. For instance, imaging tests like an ultrasound may be used to look at your testicles, blood vessels, and structures inside the scrotum.

Testicular biopsy : If semen analysis shows that you have only a few sperm or no sperm, your provider may remove a small piece of tissue (biopsy) from each testicle. The sample will be checked under a microscope.

Male infertility can be caused by low sperm production, abnormal sperm function or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm. Illnesses, injuries, chronic health problems, lifestyle choices and other factors may contribute to male infertility.

I want to share this article that is very well written and has FULL details of what can cause infertility. It’s A long list . This is not the Main Focus of this article but I wanted you to know a good source to read about the different causes according Western Medicine.

Researchers found five weeks of acupuncture treatment reduced the number of structural abnormalities in sperm and increased the overall number of normal sperm in a group of men with infertility problems.

A prospective, controlled and blind study of infertile men married for between 3 and 11 years studied the effect of acupuncture and moxa treatment on semen parameters and found a significant improvement in morphology as compared to the control group.

So why is this happening ?

in a Story BY DANIEL NOAH HALPERN published at September 4, 2018 for GQ magazine about “Sperm Count Zero.” They discussed matters related to why this is happening : ” A strange thing has happened to men over the past few decades: We’ve become increasingly infertile, so much so that within a generation we may lose the ability to reproduce entirely. What’s causing this mysterious drop in sperm counts” They also mentioned that a group of researchers from Hebrew University and Mount Sinai medical school published a study showing that sperm counts in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand have fallen by more than 50 percent over the past four decades.” They attributed that to the fact that they are choosing to have fewer children, and they are having them later in life. Most of the couples that end up in my FERTILITY clinic are 35+ years old, the majority are in their 30’s….. The journalist commented that all the scientists he talked to stressed that not only were low sperm counts alarming for what they said about the reproductive future of the species—they were also a warning of a much larger set of health problems facing men. He mentioned that men with poor semen quality have a higher mortality rate and are more likely to have diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease than fertile men.

That is why Acupuncture and TCM can help . The goal is not just to get the sperm with bigger numbers and better quality and motility but to get these men healthier and with a better life quality so they can enjoy their kids when they come around. If you don’t try to reverse bad habits they might not live longer to see their kids growing. So treating the basis is the key for success.

These scientists concluded that stress, smoking, and obesity, for example, all depress sperm counts— Another theory could be that ” The industrial revolution happened. And the oil industry happened. And 20th-century chemistry happened. In short, humans started ingesting a whole host of compounds that affected our hormones—including, most crucially, estrogen and testosterone.” Anna-Maria Andersson, a biologist whose research has focused on declining testosterone levels said that : “There has been a chemical revolution going on starting from the beginning of the 19th century, maybe even a bit before” “and upwards and exploding after the Second World War, when hundreds of new chemicals came onto the market within a very short time frame.” So they discussed the fact that suddenly a vast array of chemicals were entering our bloodstream, ones that no human body had ever had to deal with. Even if we have benefited from : new medicines, new food sources, faster and cheaper mass production of all sorts of necessary products, we also have some consequences to hunt us down ! DANIEL NOAH HALPERN spoke with Marc Goldstein, a urologist and surgeon at Weill Cornell medical centre in New York City, he said that while there was “no question I’ve seen a big increase in men with male-factor infertility,” he wasn’t worried for the future of the species. Assisted reproduction would keep the babies coming, no matter how sickly men’s sperm become. And I can say this might be true because the number of couples I have been preparing for IVF is increasing every day, and also seeing a larger increase due to Male factor in the past 10 years of my practice.

The good news is that acupuncture may complement traditional infertility treatments and help men reach their full reproductive potential.

Acupuncture is a safe and natural medicine that will give their sperm a boost while also relieving stress, improving your digestion, and increasing the quality of their sleep.

In case men are having that BIG question in their heads, no, the acupuncturist is NOT going to put a needle THERE. My office assistant received these questions many times, booking appointments so , if you are a woman reading this, tell your partner that he will be just fine!

The needles might be placed on his lower arms, lower legs, back, and abdomen. The beauty of the energy pathways in the body is that treatment on one part of the body can produce an effect in a different area of the body. Not only that, but Chinese Medicine aims to resolve symptoms by correcting larger imbalances in the body ecosystem as a whole.

I had the chance to treat hundreds of male infertility cases with Zero sperm count and other cases with low sperm count and very poor quality ( low morphology ) giving them No chances for IVF or IUI. Before acupuncture their only choice was finding a sperm donor.

I treated these patients for at least 3 months, once a week with sperm tests before and after to show their improvement and 85% of them had their sperm count reversed to a point they could have IVF or IUI done and 66% of these cases had successful pregnancies. I saw over 500 cases of male infertility in the past 15 years. And 99% of my patients who needed to go for a testicular biopsy to collect sperm for ICSI had the benefit of getting their procedures cancelled because Acupuncture reversed their numbers. ( I had closer to 60 cases who had been scheduled for a testicular biopsy to collect sperm before they tried acupuncture ).

Spread the news, before you go for IVF, try acupuncture. If you know you have no Sperm and they told you might need to use a sperm donor, then try acupuncture first. And if you have done everything you could but you have faced a serious illness that affects fertility or if you have a genetic condition or if you dealt with Drug abuse or you were exposure to chemicals or you had a long use of anabolic steroid you need to know that all that could had cause a permanent insufficient sperm count. As sad as these news can be you should consider that what makes a father is having a child to care for, if you have to use sperm donor I can assure to you, based in 4 dozens of patients that I treated who in the end needed to use a sperm bank, they are the best parents a child could have. What makes a father is not the genetic background but is to be present and to love that child.. Do you know that many kids around the world who had full genes from their parents never had the chance to be loved by them? Kids around the world deal with parents’ abuse of all kinds. My sincere opinion is to NOT close this door, parenting life is exciting . Your partner will be extremely happy if you consider this choice too. Be open minded. LOVE is beyond all this. I will be happy to assist you in whatever journey you are willing to take. Consider TCM and acupuncture to treat and help Male Infertility.
